Dealer Fee Schedule
Effective from: 3 September 2026
This Fee Schedule forms part of the Sell My Car Essex Marketplace Dealer Terms and Conditions.
The current Fee Schedule is available only to approved Dealers at:
Dealer approval and sign-in may be required to view it.
Account tiers and bidding limits
Each approved Dealer is assigned an account tier. The tier controls how many won or Accepted Vehicles may remain open and how many unpaid Marketplace invoices may remain on the account before further bidding is paused.
| Dealer tier | Maximum open won Vehicles | Maximum unpaid invoices |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 3 | 2 |
| Tier 2 | 5 | 3 |
| Tier 3 | 7 | 4 |
Bidding will normally be paused as soon as the Dealer reaches either limit. For example, a Tier 1 Dealer will be unable to submit another offer while it has three open won Vehicles or two unpaid invoices.
An open won Vehicle is a Vehicle for which the Dealer has a successful or Accepted Offer that has not yet been accurately recorded and, where required, verified as:
- Sold at accepted price;
- Sold at revised price; or
- No Deal.
An unpaid invoice is an invoice that has been issued but for which cleared payment has not yet been received and allocated to the Dealer’s account. It counts towards the limit even if its payment due date has not yet passed.
An overdue invoice, failed payment, reversed payment or other material credit concern may result in bidding being paused even where the numerical invoice limit has not been reached.
We assign and review account tiers using reasonable factors including account age, verification status, completed purchases, payment history, cancellations, unresolved transactions and compliance with the Dealer Code of Conduct. A Dealer’s current tier and available capacity will be shown in the Dealer Portal.
Changing a Dealer’s tier does not cancel or remove its obligations concerning existing Accepted Offers or unpaid invoices.
1. Commission
The Commission Fee payable for a successful Vehicle purchase is the fee displayed to the Dealer in the Dealer Portal before the Dealer submits its offer.
The current commission bands are:
2. VAT
Commission Fees are exclusive of VAT. VAT will be added at the applicable rate where required.
3. Price used to calculate commission
Commission is calculated using the Final Purchase Price actually agreed and paid for the Vehicle.
Where a revised price is agreed following a genuine material discrepancy, the Dealer must record that price through the Marketplace. We may request evidence supporting the adjustment.
If the Dealer does not accurately report the Final Purchase Price or provide requested evidence, we may calculate commission using the Accepted Offer.
4. When commission becomes due
Commission becomes due when the first of the following occurs:
- the Vehicle is paid for;
- the Dealer or its representative takes possession of the Vehicle;
- either party records the Vehicle as sold; or
- we receive reasonable evidence that the Dealer or a connected party completed the purchase.
5. Payment period
Invoices must be paid within seven calendar days unless another payment period has been agreed in writing.
Payment must be made using the method shown on the invoice or in the Dealer Portal.
6. No Deal
No Commission Fee is payable where a transaction genuinely results in No Deal and neither the Dealer nor a connected person subsequently purchases the Vehicle.
The Dealer must provide an accurate No Deal reason and reasonable evidence if requested.
7. Circumvention
Commission remains payable if the Dealer, an associated business, employee, director, agent or another connected person purchases the Vehicle outside the Marketplace within 90 days after introduction through the Marketplace.
This does not apply where the Dealer can demonstrate that the later purchase was genuinely unrelated to the Marketplace introduction.
8. Cancellations
A Dealer cancellation does not create a Commission Fee where the cancellation is permitted under the Dealer Terms and no connected purchase occurs.
Where a Dealer falsely records a cancellation, conceals a completed purchase or cancels for the purpose of avoiding commission, the full Commission Fee remains payable and account action may be taken.
9. Late payment
Where permitted, overdue business debts may carry statutory interest and recovery compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
We may restrict or suspend bidding while an invoice remains overdue.
We may also restrict bidding where the number or value of unpaid invoices reaches the invoice or credit limit assigned to the Dealer’s account. The current limit will be displayed in the Dealer Portal or otherwise communicated to the Dealer.
Payment of one or more invoices does not restore bidding access until the cleared payment has been received and allocated and the account is below its applicable limit.
10. Changes to the Fee Schedule
We may update this Fee Schedule from time to time by giving approved Dealers reasonable notice through the Dealer Portal, by email or both.
Each version will show its effective date. A change will apply only to offers submitted on or after that date and will not affect a Dealer Offer already submitted. The fee displayed or made available when the offer is submitted will apply to the resulting transaction.
